Whitestown Ice Rink

Whitesboro, NY

Quality Mechanical Services (QMS) was selected to provide the refrigeration and mechanical systems upgrade for the Town of Whitestown Community Ice Rink. This specialized project involved the modernization of the facility’s ice-making infrastructure to improve performance, reliability, energy efficiency, and long-term operational sustainability. QMS’s scope included the replacement of the existing refrigeration plant and mechanical systems, installation of new pumping equipment, water treatment systems, PLC-based controls, ice floor and subfloor temperature monitoring systems, insulated glycol piping, and associated refrigeration infrastructure. The project also included demolition of existing refrigeration equipment and cooling tower components, along with the installation and commissioning of new mechanical systems designed specifically for ice rink operation. A key feature of the project was the incorporation of heat recovery technology, utilizing reclaimed condenser heat to support subfloor heating requirements beneath the ice surface. This innovative approach helps improve energy efficiency while maintaining proper ice conditions and protecting the structural integrity of the rink floor. Leveraging our expertise in specialized refrigeration systems, hydronics, controls integration, and mechanical construction, QMS delivered a comprehensive solution that enhances ice quality, system reliability, and operational efficiency. The Whitestown Community Ice Rink project highlights our ability to successfully execute complex recreational and municipal infrastructure projects that serve communities for years to come.
