Lysander Ice Rink

Baldwinsville, NY

Quality Mechanical Services (QMS) was selected to provide the refrigeration system expansion and mechanical upgrades for the Lysander Ice Arena Ice Sheet Addition in Baldwinsville, New York. This project was designed to increase the facility’s ice-making capacity and support the addition of a new ice sheet through enhancements to the existing refrigeration infrastructure. QMS developed an engineered solution to modify the existing rink cooling system and expand its capacity to support an ethylene glycol-based refrigeration system. The upgraded system was designed to operate with a 10°F supply temperature and a 14°F return temperature at approximately 800 GPM, ensuring reliable ice production and consistent rink performance. The project included the installation of heat exchangers, variable frequency drive (VFD) pumps, an air separator, glycol feed station, glycol distribution piping, ice temperature controls, and integration with the facility’s existing refrigeration rack system. Startup, commissioning, and owner training were also provided to ensure optimal system performance and long-term operational reliability. Leveraging our expertise in ice rink refrigeration, hydronic systems, controls integration, and mechanical engineering, QMS delivered a complete solution that supports high-quality ice conditions, improved system efficiency, and future facility growth. The Lysander Ice Sheet Addition project highlights our ability to successfully execute specialized refrigeration projects for recreational and community facilities.
