Quality Mechanical Services (QMS) was selected to provide HVAC design and installation services for the renovation of the J.B. Wise Building in Syracuse, New York. This adaptive reuse project transformed upper floors of the historic structure into modern residential apartments while maintaining the character of the existing building. QMS provided engineering support and developed the mechanical systems required to serve thirteen new apartment units across the second and third floors. The project included the installation of high-efficiency heat pump systems for year-round heating and cooling, ventilation systems for improved indoor air quality, and electric cabinet heaters serving common areas and stairwells. Outdoor condensing units were equipped with low-ambient accessories to ensure reliable operation during Central New York winters. The renovation required careful integration of modern HVAC technology within an existing building, balancing occupant comfort, energy efficiency, and constructibility. QMS provided system startup, commissioning, and owner training to ensure long-term performance and ease of operation. The J.B. Wise Building project showcases QMS’s expertise in multifamily residential construction, adaptive reuse developments, and heat pump technology, delivering efficient and reliable mechanical systems that support comfortable, modern living spaces within a revitalized historic property.
