Quality Mechanical Services (QMS) was selected to provide mechanical construction services for the replacement of a critical cooling system at the AT&T telecommunications facility in Utica, New York. This project involved the removal and replacement of an existing Carrier chiller that serves essential building cooling operations, requiring careful planning and coordination to minimize downtime and maintain system reliability. QMS’s scope included the safe shutdown and disconnection of the existing chiller, equipment demolition and disposal in accordance with EPA standards, rigging and placement of the new chiller, reconnection of mechanical services, and coordination of startup activities with the equipment manufacturer. The project also required close collaboration with electrical and controls contractors to ensure seamless integration of the new cooling equipment into the facility’s infrastructure. Given the mission-critical nature of telecommunications facilities, the project demanded precise execution, detailed logistics planning, and safe equipment handling practices. QMS coordinated crane operations, rigging activities, and mechanical reconnections to efficiently complete the replacement while maintaining the highest standards of safety and workmanship. The AT&T Utica Chiller Replacement project demonstrates QMS’s expertise in critical infrastructure upgrades, chiller replacements, and complex mechanical system renovations, delivering reliable cooling solutions that support continuous facility operations and long-term system performance.
